well it survived the last 2 rains we've had.  can check that off the to-do-list.

with the new door seals and windshield fixed it's kind of nice inside.

threw the white rigs new bumper on the back of the blue rig.

order 31x10.5's today.  I kept on going back and forth between 30's and 31's... I just couldn't
buy 30's.  hopefully they will help the suspension a bit more.

instead of new carpet kits I bought full floor mats.  2 sets of full floor mats for the price of 1 new carpet kit.

I still have a bunch of parts so just switching from one rig to the other.

took a closer look at the old sealant and it looks to be 3 layers... new windshield never had a chance.

also looked at the '87 (original windshield) and there is very little sealant (thickness wise).
maybe 3/16 at max after smooshing the windshield down.

found some website that had a bunch of good reviews on paint matching so instead of
just painting the rust spots whatever color I have (black) I ordered a 2 ounce bottle of paint.
they had the blue rigs paint code on their website so if it match's I might just order a quart
and try and paint the hood myself and then go from there.

so while waiting for the paint to show up I moved to rebuilding a saginaw steering box.

this is the box out of the white rig which looked to be original.  if it was original it has 224k
on it.  it had a lot of play and was leaking so that's why I replaced it.

I want to find out why rebuilt boxes are so expensive and the rebuild kits are so cheap.
the rebuild kit only has 2 bearings but like 20 seals.

all for now Roll Eyes

started removing the old seal..s hmmm

so much sealant... the headliner and frt dash peace were glued in better than the windshield.

removed/cut the sealant away from the headliner.  shaits as thick as my thumbnail.

not sure how thick of a bead is suppose to be on the frame (research) but  Roll Eyes

half the trim clips were glued to the rig.

just threw a bead right over the original bead.  it did cut out easier than I thought it would and I was surprised to only find
one somewhat bad rust spot plus a few surface spots.  with all the sealant and dirt there was no way water could flow away.

ordered some primer and sealant yesterday.  while waiting for that I'll clean-up the rust spots.

took the molding off when I got home.

pushed on the pass side...

then the dr side...

giggled but then got to thinking and kept on pushing

put it back down and had dinner but curiosity got the best of me so

and yes the molding/trim was holding the windshield beat

time to do some research.  read

the blue rig needed a new muffler so I just order a complete cat back kit from rock auto.

this is what I got

it ended up being a dynomax 2-1/2 instead of the stock 2-1/4 which woke up the rig a little more but that
end was hideous... I think it's suppose to clear a trailer hitch but the hitch really isn't in the way.

so I hacked it off  Grin

the blue rig also received new door seals and the p-n-p antenna.  went to safelite to see about getting the front windshield re-sealed.
the guy quoted 430 for a new windshield.  laughed and walked out.  the problem with the windshield is it's not sealed at the top, sides,
and prob bottom.  I think the molding is the only thing holding it to the rig...  going to see tomorrow.  take the molding off and see if I
can remove it. Grin

the white rig has the p-n-p interior and center console installed and it smells like dog Roll Eyes but it is comfy...er.  I'll get some pic's.

and I need to remember not to take pic's sideways anymore or learn how to make them smaller.
