So for KOH 2015, what do I need to do to volunteer? can we all volunteer and work together, or do they just assign us where they want us separately?

I'm looking at renting a motorhome I can use to tow my jeep down.

What days should we plan on going? Monday through Saturday?

Do we need to reserve camp sites or anything? or just first come first served?

email this guy to volunteer: Simon Saines (simon@ultra4racing.com) saying you'd like to signup as a volunteer for 2015 koh.
yeah we can work together in areas.  We can work as a group.
Awesome.
I go down Monday usually then head home Saturday.
No reservations.   I show up Monday or Tuesday and just pick a spot near the gate entrance to the pits.  the volunteers get wristbands with unlimited access to pits.  But I just camp outside the gate since Im not paying for a garage spot in pits.
Lets do it!

What was the cell reception like at the campground area? What about out on the course?

on the course is pretty spotty.  in camp, its ok until thursday.  after that it goes to shit.   you can take a ride out to the center of the lakebed (at the cell phone bush) and usually get calls/text out there).
there is a provider @ camp that provides wifi service for a fee.

I will plan on getting sat phone minutes.

Do you know if they use a microwave or directional 802.11 link or something to get wifi out there, and then repeat it using 802.11? Looks like these guys run it: http://mojavewifi.com/

Do you have to show up monday for a volunteer intro or anything? or can you just show up any time? I'm leaning towards renting a diesel pusher (so I can tow my jeep with it) for 1 week rental, Monday through Sunday, but we likely wouldn't pull into camp until late Monday. And of course I have to make sure stacey and I can get the time off.

I can rent a diesel pusher locally for $1500/week, which includes 700 miles (would be just enough to get me there and back). Plus a few other misc charges (like $4/hour for generator usage past 5 hours/day)

We rented the RV. We pick it up Sunday morning, and have to load all our shit in it.  We'll be there Sunday or Monday (probably Monday?).  Cheesy
